Team Rethink shines at the London Marathon

A squad of superstar runners tackled the iconic London Marathon to raise vital funds for Rethink Mental Illness.

In what was one of our biggest London Marathon teams, 36 people in total stomped their running shoes across the capital on Sunday 21 April having fundraised £61,300 (and counting!).

That money will go great lengths to help us continue to support people severely affected by mental illness in England.

Hannah Nutt, Senior Events Community Fundraising Manager at Rethink Mental Illness, and  said: “The atmosphere at the London marathon is always incredible, with thousands of spectators cheering the runners along as they complete the 26.2 mile course.

“I am so unbelievably proud of this year's team, who have together raised over £61,000 for Rethink Mental Illness. It’s a huge accomplishment and we send our congratulations to you all – rest and recover knowing you’ve achieved something special.”

More than 50,000 runners ran this year’s London Marathon, with a number of records being broken.

Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir, beat the women’s-only world record to win in two hours, 16 minutes and 16 seconds, while Lee Baynton completed the fastest ever marathon in an inflatable costume!

British legend David Weir, in his 25th consecutive appearance, came third in the men's wheelchair race while, for the first time, wheelchair and non-disabled athletes received the same prize money for a marathon.

And the eagle-eyed supporters on the sidelines would’ve spotted celebrity runners including comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Joel Dommett, McFly’s Harry Judd, and actor Ruth Wilson.

If you’re inspired by the gargantuan effort on display by our runners, apply to be a part of the 2025 Rethink Mental Illness London Marathon today.
