Event Fundraising Help

Every single penny you raise will help support people affected by severe mental illness. Through your fundraising you will be providing vital funds to enable us to continue our work to improve treatment, fight stigma and change lives.

Get Started

First, it is really important to get your fundraising page set up, and write a story on the page, this helps to raise 65% more!

Tell your friends and family about the challenge you are taking on, why you are fundraising for Rethink Mental Illness, what you are going to do to prepare for the challenge and how the funds will be used.

Don’t forget to connect to apps, such as Strava and Fitbit to track your progress and keep friends and family up to date.

Add a profile photo to make your fundraising page your own – it reassures supporters that they’re on the right page for you.

Finally, make a donation yourself and now your page is ready to be shared far and wide!

It’s really useful to keep your friends and family up to date with your progress, as well as giving them tangible understanding of what the impact of your fundraising will have.

Share share share!

Don’t forget to share far and wide with your network, so they can support you, by not only donating themselves but also sharing onwards to their own network – this enables your brilliant fundraising to reach even more people!

Add a video, use hashtags, and add a link to your fundraising page in your social media bios and download our email signature to let even more people know!

Make the most of event day!

Celebrate your huge achievement by posting an “I did it” photo on your fundraising page and share onwards, it could be you and your finisher medal, on top of the mountain, or sitting back with a cup of tea after hosting a bake sale.

Friends and family will be keen to know how you have got on, so if you can, post regular updates during the day, and ask them to help you hit your milestones.

Important information

Please get in touch with us if you would like to hold a public collection. There are strict guidelines to collecting in public, including having to get a permit from the your local authority or police force.

The Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB) works to ensure that organisations raising money from the public do so honestly and properly, and adhere to the Institute of Fundraising’s Codes of Fundraising Practice.

Rethink Mental Illness is proud to say that it’s one of the many large charities which have joined the FRSB and we are proud to be a member. To find out more about what this means to you, visit the Fundraising Standards Board's website for the public . We are always keen to ensure that any complaints are promptly and fairly handled. For further details, you can read our: Complaints Policy & Procedure.
