We are a supportive, peer-led group of people who have a lived experience of trauma. Trauma can be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual and it comes from a range of experiences. We understand that the lived experience is different for everyone and therefore the impact that trauma can leave is different for everyone. No judgement. Confidential. Understanding. Connection. Support. Hope. Growth. Happiness. Nobody should have to go through challenging times alone so we come together to share TIPS and coping strategies, so we can build resilience and grow a brighter future. The group will offer a safe space for people in the Dovercourt and Harwich area to come together in a relaxed environment. Alone we may be strong but together we are stronger.

We are an online group for men with borderline personality disorder (BPD) or emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD). We are a small community of men who meet weekly on zoom and also have a WhatsApp group to keep us connected and provide support to each other. Members can use one or both of these methods for support. We work on an informal drop-in basis so members are not expected to attend all of our meetings - it's fine to come along whenever you need a bit of extra support! We aim to provide a friendly, safe social space for our members to come together and support one another. Through supporting one another, we are able to explore some of the traits of our diagnosis, work out some coping strategies for ourselves and increase our knowledge about what we are experiencing, which in turn will help us to live our lives in a better way. We are open to men from Norfolk and Suffolk, however we do have members who live outside of this area so wherever you live, please do get in touch!

Our group aims to help carers and their partners, relatives and friends with a wide range of mental health problems, including accessing the information they need. We offer a safe environment where people feel at ease. We hold monthly meetings that give carers the opportunity to talk about the issues that are affecting them. At alternate meetings, we invite speakers to share their expertise to a wider audience. We also produce a monthly newsletter and offer telephone support. Our group members raise awareness of the support of Rethink Mental Illness in the community by attending at Southeastern train stations health events, we also stage an annual sponsored fundraising bike ride event, the next being on Sunday 15th May 2022. Our group has a physical activity initiative too, called the ‘Bike Ride, Walk and Talk’, further details can be obtained by contacting CCGroup@rethink.org. We embrace opportunities to extend our provision of activities that bring families of Carers and their loved ones who are service users.

We are run by carers, with carers, for carers of adults with mental health problems. Our aims are to: • Support and inform each other – through monthly groups, a phone line, informal advocacy and financial help – so that we know we are not alone • Help each other develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to do the best we can for our loved one with mental health problems • Provide information about training, helpful local agencies and rights • Work with carers to strengthen their voices as experts by experience so that the limited resources available to mental health and social care are put to the best possible use • Engage constructively with the NHS, the NHS Provider Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) and local authority commissioners to improve services – where necessary injecting a sense of urgency and an element of challenge
