Rethink Mental Illness - support for siblings (South London)
Open to: Siblings
Vauxhall
The group are currently meeting on the last Wednesday of the month between 7.30pm - 9pm on zoom which is open to siblings both within the UK and abroad. We mainly support siblings whose brother or sister has schizophrenia or bi-polar but will not turn anyone away who cannot find support elsewhere. For more information please email or phone the group.
Group Coordinator: _
Our long running group is open to anyone who has a brother or sister with lived experience of mental illness. The relationship between siblings is different to any other relationship, and our group reflects that. We can give a good insight into how mental illness can change relationships and discuss the ways you can support your sibling and the rest of your family, both emotionally and practically.

Our very long running Wimbledon Wednesday Group has become a key source of information and support in the area. We provide information on local and national services and support and empower one another. The group is for anyone affected by mental illness who is or has been under a Community Mental Health Team. We also talk to local decision makers to try and improve the treatment of all those affected by mental illness. We meet every Wednesday of the year for a relaxed and friendly evening of games, low-cost food and drinks, bingo, chess, art and colouring, Scrabble, chatting and quizzes. We also have a quiet room for those who wish to use it. We have occasional outings, eg to the theatre, cinema, walks, days out to towns and cities, countryside and seaside. We are always looking to do more, so we would welcome any suggestions and support.

Our group aims to be a safe place for carers to offload their problems and support each other, knowing they will not be judged. We have all had personal experience of caring for someone close to us, and so we understand what it can be like supporting someone through a challenging treatment path. We have occasional speakers, and try to be involved in local decision making to help improve the situations of carers and their loved ones.

We are dedicated to young South Asian women in their 20's and 30's who are suffering with any type of mental health condition. This is a safe, open and most importantly non-judgemental spce for us like-minded individuals to get together and discuss what's on our mind - we celebrate the good, share the bad and emphasise with everything in between. We don't have all the answers but we do know good mental health is a journey, one that will only move forward once we start talking about how we really feel. Come along and be part of the change!
