  • Worthing Rethink Mental Health Carers Group

    We are a peer-led support group for the carers, family members and friends of people with lived experience of mental illness. We also welcome people living with mental illness who wish to attend, as both sets of people share similar issues. We have three groups running: 1. A virtual meeting runs on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7pm. Contact us for details. 2. A face-to-face meeting is held on the 4th Monday of each month from 7pm at Meadowfield Hospital, Swandean, Arundel Road, Worthing BN13 3EF. Every month, we try to arrange for a guest speaker to talk to the group about their specialist area but always leave time for people to share concerns and receive support. 3. A drop-in session takes place on the first Wednesday of the month between 10:30am and 1pm, at The Happy Teapot Cafe, 7 Richmond Rd, Worthing BN11 1PN (opposite Worthing Library). Stay for 5 minutes, the whole time, or anywhere in between.

  • The Support Squad

    The Support Squad strive to bring together St. Mabyn residents and the surrounding local communities by promoting well-being and helping members of the group build valuable friendships. We aim to offer emotional support to adults with lived experience of mental illness, whether it be personally, or as caregivers, friends, or family, and provide them with the practical help needed to access local and national services. This information, peer support and signposting will be offered alongside a chance to share experiences, make new friends, and try new things, hoping that those attending the group may feel less isolated, more informed, and able to cope better.       The Support Squad is a voluntary led peer support group, led by a group of five coordinators – we are a happy and supportive group who meet at St. Mabyn Peace Memorial Hall in the centre of the village. There is an accessible carpark within walking distance. New members are encouraged to contact the group for joining details and information about the next meeting. So please drop us a line on the group email or call on the group phone to find out more – we look forward to meeting you! Please note we aim to respond to emails and telephone messages everyday but sometimes it may take a little longer to get back to you.

  • Rethink Liverpool Peer Support Group

    Our registered Group in Liverpool was established by people who had personal experiences of mental health and came together to challenge the stigma around mental health. Through our work with the Time to Change campaign, we realised that there wasn't a place for people to come together, share our knowledge of what support was available to each other, and give and receive mutual peer support. We established the Liverpool group to provide this opportunity, so the more knowledgeable members could share their stories and journeys through navigating the mental health system in Liverpool. We know that when people first come in contact with the mental health field, it can be confusing to know what support is available in the community and which is appropriate for your needs at that time. One of our aims is to provide clear information about what support you can access in the region. We also provide an opportunity to share their own stories about how mental health has affected them, providing a non-judgmental listening ear from people who have been through similar challenges. Coordinators Garrick and Jeanette have their personal experiences of mental health, and supporting other people with their own recovery journey of mental health. We strive to provide a safe and supportive environment where people can talk openly about mental health The group is not currently holding meetings but will resume them in the summer 2025. We currently provide information and signposting services at Liverpool Central Library on Thursday afternoons and Friday mornings. We have a desk on the first floor of the library (near the reference section) where people can come to speak with one of our volunteers, Garrick and Jeanette. We welcome opportunities to listen to your personal experiences of mental health (and people are free to share as little or as much as they like) and share our knowledge of what services are available in the Liverpool area that might be able to provide further support. We are also happy to share our own experiences and what's worked for us (in the knowledge that what's worked for us might not work for everyone). Our desk is located in a public section of the library, so other people may be sitting at a nearby table (especially during busy times). If you need a more confidential space to speak, please let us know before so we can see if we can arrange a more private area to speak (we might not be able to arrange this on the day).
