Are you passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives? We’re looking for an experienced and caring Mental Health Recovery Worker to join our dedicated team at Topping Mill – a CQC Registered home supporting people with severe and enduring mental health challenges.
About Topping Mill
Topping Mill is a warm and supportive transition service offering person centred accommodation for adults aged 18 and over. We provide a safe, stable home for up to five years, helping each person build confidence, develop independence, and move on to long term housing within the community when they’re ready.
Our modern building includes 14 self contained one bedroom apartments, each with its own living area, kitchen, and bathroom. The environment is calm and homely, with shared lounges on both the ground and first floor where residents can relax, socialise, or take part in activities.
Key features of Topping Mill include
- 14 self-contained one bed apartments, designed to support independence
- Ground-floor accessible flats (4 fully accessible)
- Shared lounges/TV rooms on both floors

Our team provides flexible, recovery focused support tailored to each person’s journey, making Topping Mill a place where individuals can truly thrive.
What will you do?
In this role, I will support individuals on their recovery journey, helping them build skills, confidence and independence. My work will include:
- Providing one to one key worker support and building positive, professional relationships
- Carrying out assessments and developing personalised support and safety plans
- Encouraging people to manage their mental and physical wellbeing
- Supporting individuals with daily living skills and accessing community services
- Liaising with mental health agencies, professionals and community groups
- Contributing to safeguarding and promoting a safe, supportive environment
- Keeping accurate records, monitoring progress and sharing information with the team
- Helping improve the service by offering feedback and supporting colleagues
What we’re looking for
- Experience supporting people with mental illness or in a social care setting (paid or voluntary)
- Great listening skills, empathy, patience, and kindness
- Ability to work with digital systems (Microsoft applications, email, internet)

Rethink Mental Illness work alongside Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) and Humber, Teaching NHS Foundation Trust to deliver an integrated stepped care mental health service within HMP Hull and Humber.
The team compromises a range of highly skilled professionals who work collaboratively to provide the highest quality of care, for those with mental health needs within the prison and for Rethink Mental Illness employees, this is carried out between 0800 – 1600 Monday to Friday.
As we work across both sites, there may be some travel involved, but this will be done in work time and expenses paid to support service delivery.

What I will do and achieve
Your work will make a real difference by helping people in prison take positive steps toward recovery and a better future. You’ll play a vital role in supporting mental health, reducing risk, and empowering individuals to manage their wellbeing.
In this role, you will
- Assess and manage referrals – Accept referrals via agreed protocols, determine suitability, and ensure clients receive the right level of care, including stepping up treatment when necessary.
- Support recovery and self-management – Work with individuals to identify their goals, assess risk, and empower them to manage their mental health effectively.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions – Provide low-intensity treatments such as Guided Self-Help and psycho-educational support, drawing on CBT principles.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team – Attend meetings, share insights, and ensure smooth step-up and step-down arrangements for clients.
- Maintain high standards of clinical practice – Record outcome measures, keep accurate data, and uphold confidentiality at all times.
- Contribute to service performance – Meet agreed activity targets, minimise waiting times, and support monthly performance reporting.
- Build strong partnerships – Work with statutory and non-statutory agencies to ensure continuity of care post-release.
- Communicate effectively and professionally – Engage with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders in a clear and supportive manner.
- Commit to personal development – Use supervision constructively, maintain professional registration, and stay up to date with best practice.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Successfully completed academic training aligned with the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and qualified as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP), e.g., Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies.
- Accredited PWP with BACP or BPS.
- Post-qualification experience delivering the full range of evidence-based IAPT low-intensity interventions at Step 2.
- Proven experience working within a stepped care service, supporting individuals with mental health problems and achieving recovery outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of assessment procedures, screening, referral processes, record-keeping, and evidence-based brief psychological interventions.
- Understanding and application of evidence-based psychological therapies relevant to this role.
- Ability to build effective therapeutic relationships and practice inclusively, respecting cultural diversity and individual beliefs.
- Commitment to an inclusive values base that promotes recovery and respects diversity.
- Experience using clinical outcome measures to inform and improve practice.

About the role
At Rethink Mental Illness, we believe everyone severely affected by mental illness deserves the chance of a better life. We’re looking for a Stepdown Recovery Officer to join our community mental health services and play a vital role in supporting people as they move from inpatient care towards greater independence.
This is a hands on, people focused role where you’ll work alongside clinical teams, housing partners and local authorities to help individuals leave stepdown accommodation safely, confidently and at the right time. You’ll support people to build skills, access services and take steps towards recovery — always in a way that feels personal, respectful and empowering.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work directly with people using our stepdown service, supporting them through the transition back into the community. This will include:
- Coordinating discharge planning alongside multidisciplinary teams and community services
- Supporting individuals with everyday living skills, appointment escorts and recovery activities
- Working with housing teams and local authorities to support assessments and accommodation pathways
- Running regular one to one support sessions focused on goals, independence and recovery
- Identifying barriers to discharge early and helping find practical solutions
- Building trusted, professional relationships that promote safety, dignity and hope
- Keeping accurate records and contributing to service monitoring and improvement
- Championing recovery values across the service and with partner organisations
Every day will be different, but your focus will always be on helping people move forward in their recovery.
About you
You don’t need to have “been a Recovery Officer” before — what matters most is your attitude, values and experience of working with people.
We’re looking for someone who
- Has experience (paid or voluntary) in mental health, social care or a similar setting
- Understands mental health crisis and the challenges people face during discharge transitions
- Can work independently, manage priorities and problem solve creatively
- Communicates clearly, respectfully and confidently with a wide range of professionals
- Is person centred, strengths based and motivated by helping people build independence
- Has good written skills and can maintain accurate, confidential records
Knowledge of local services across Brent, Harrow, Hillingdon and Westminster would be an advantage, but it’s not essential.

This is a Part Time (24.5 Hours) role with a salary of £16,095.61 pro rata.

- Is organised, flexible and able to respond calmly to unexpected challenges.
- Has strong awareness of risk management, safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Holds — or is working towards — a Level 3 qualification relevant to care, community mental health or social support (or equivalent experience).
Experience delivering community projects, facilitating training, or developing workshops is desirable but not essential.

Our Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Employment Service helps people with mental health challenges find and sustain paid employment that matters to them. We’re now looking for a passionate and experienced IPS Employment Service Manager to lead and develop our East Kent service.
About the role
As Employment Service Manager, you’ll lead a small, dedicated team of Employment Specialists delivering high quality, recovery focused employment support across East Kent. You’ll ensure the service meets contractual requirements, achieves positive outcomes for people we support, and reflects Rethink’s values in everything it does.
Working closely with the Head of Area, you’ll provide day to day leadership, oversight of performance and quality, and strong external partnership working — all while championing innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
You’ll manage four part time Employment Specialists and play a key role in shaping how the IPS service responds to local need.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading, supporting and developing a dispersed staff team to deliver safe, effective and person centred services
- Ensuring strong performance against contract targets, quality standards and reporting requirements
- Embedding safeguarding, data protection, equality and health & safety into everyday practice
- Providing regular supervision, coaching, appraisals and performance support
- Building effective relationships with commissioners, referrers, mental health services and community partners
- Managing recruitment, staff resourcing, budgets and operational processes
- Promoting service user involvement and ensuring voices of lived experience shape the service
- Identifying opportunities for service improvement, innovation and local engagement
Who we’re looking for
You’ll be a confident, values driven leader with experience of managing services in health, social care or a related setting. You’ll bring a collaborative approach, a commitment to recovery focused practice, and a genuine passion for supporting people affected by mental illness into employment.
You’ll need
- Experience of managing and supporting staff teams, including supervision and performance management
- Knowledge of mental health, recovery approaches and best practice
- Experience of safeguarding, incident reporting and regulatory compliance
- Strong organisational, communication and partnership working skills
- Ability to plan, monitor and evidence outcomes and service impact
- NVQ Level 3 / QCF Diploma (or equivalent) in a health or social care related subject
- Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office

About the role
As our HR Business Partner, you’ll act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders across the organisation. You’ll work in partnership with Directors, Associate Directors and Heads of Department to deliver people led solutions that are fair, equitable and aligned to our values.
You’ll combine expert employee relations practice with strategic insight — drawing on data, organisational understanding and your coaching skills to help leaders make confident, informed decisions. You’ll play a pivotal role in organisational change activity, workforce planning and embedding inclusive, values led people management practices.

Person Specification
Essential criteria
- Ability to regularly travel to London and operational locations as required by the business.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (minimum) or equivalent professional experience.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Significant HRBP or senior HR experience within a complex organisation.
- Strong, up to date employment law knowledge applied pragmatically.
- Proven experience managing complex ER cases with confidence and sensitivity.
- Experience supporting organisational change, including restructures and TUPE.
- Ability to interpret workforce data and use insights to inform decisions.

About the role
As a Trainee Advocate, you’ll begin your journey by enrolling on the Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice qualification. We’ll give you protected study time, close supervision, and practical learning opportunities so you can build knowledge and confidence.
You’ll start by shadowing experienced advocates and gradually progress toward managing your own caseload. Your primary focus will be providing Relevant Person’s Paid Representative (RPR) support to people who have been deprived of their liberty under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
In this role, every day is about upholding rights, reducing restrictions, and ensuring each person’s voice — spoken or unspoken — is respected in decisions about their life.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting people to understand their rights and options under DoLS.

About the role
As a Trainee Multidisciplinary Advocate, you will begin your journey into independent advocacy by completing the Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice qualification, supported with protected study time. You’ll shadow experienced advocates, learn the foundations of instructed and non instructed advocacy, and gradually build up to managing your own caseload.
You will work with people across a variety of settings — including hospitals, care homes, supported living, secure units, and out in the community. The role covers multiple advocacy remits, which may include

Gloster Road and Ashleigh Road are supported living services commissioned by Devon Partnership Trust NHS and Devon County Council. We provide recovery focused mental health support, helping adults build independence with the aim of moving on within two years.
Our mixed gender team of Mental Health Recovery Workers offers 1:1 support, group activities, and community outings. We also provide ongoing help through our Community Outreach team, supporting clients in their own homes with gradually reducing support as needs change. Both services work closely together to ensure a consistent, person centred approach.
Our North Devon Community Outreach team provides mental health support to individuals living in their own homes across the community. Commissioned by Devon Partnership Trust NHS and Devon County Council, we offer weekly, recovery focused support tailored to each person’s needs. Our Mental Health Recovery Workers work collaboratively with clients to build confidence, independence, and wellbeing.

The team compromises a range of highly skilled professionals who work collaboratively to provide the highest quality of care for those with mental health needs within the prison and for Rethink Mental Illness employees, this is carried out between 0800 – 1600 Monday to Friday.

Your work will make a real difference by helping people in prison take positive steps toward recovery and a better future. You’ll play a vital role in supporting mental health, reducing risk, and empowering individuals to manage their wellbeing.
In this role, you will
- Assess and manage referrals – Accept referrals via agreed protocols, determine suitability, and ensure clients receive the right level of care, including stepping up treatment when necessary.
- Support recovery and self-management – Work with individuals to identify their goals, assess risk, and empower them to manage their mental health effectively.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions – Provide low-intensity treatments such as Guided Self-Help and psycho-educational support, drawing on CBT principles.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team – Attend meetings, share insights, and ensure smooth step-up and step-down arrangements for clients.
- Maintain high standards of clinical practice – Record outcome measures, keep accurate data, and uphold confidentiality at all times.

- Post-qualification experience delivering the full range of evidence-based IAPT low-intensity interventions at Step 2.
- Proven experience working within a stepped care service, supporting individuals with mental health problems and achieving recovery outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of assessment procedures, screening, referral processes, record-keeping, and evidence-based brief psychological interventions.
- Understanding and application of evidence-based psychological therapies relevant to this role.

About the role

Rethink Mental Illness works in partnership with Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust to deliver Step 1 and 2 talking therapies within integrated prison mental health teams. At HMP Haverigg—a Category D open male prison supporting many individuals convicted of sexual offences—the service provides high quality, face to face interventions that help people prepare for release. The role is mainly Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00, with some flexibility and occasional reimbursed travel.
What I will do and achieve
I deliver brief 1:1 and group counselling for depression related to recent life events, following Step 2 IAPT guidance. Working within the integrated mental health team, I support wellbeing initiatives and collaborate with Rethink colleagues across clinical and care navigation services, with supervision provided in line with BACP standards.
Clinical Assessment & Intervention
- Manage referrals in line with service protocols, assessing suitability and stepping clients up or down as appropriate.
- Conduct person centred assessments, including risk assessment, goal setting, and identifying areas for change.
- Deliver Step 2 counselling interventions, developing, implementing, and evaluating therapy plans.
- Use recognised outcome measures (PHQ 9, GAD 7) to monitor progress throughout treatment.

About the role
Location: Durham – Agile role
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm
Care Navigation services aim to provide a seamless package of support to individuals leaving secure settings and returning to the community, reconnecting individuals with health services to reduce health inequalities and in turn reduce reoffending. The Care Navigators are embedded in integrated mental health teams and community settings, providing 1:1 and group assessment and support in a variety of settings and hold highly autonomous roles.
*The applicant must have a full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
What I will do and achieve
Join our team as a Care Navigator, working with colleagues to support people with health vulnerabilities as they move from prison back into the community. Using a coaching approach, you’ll help maintain wellbeing before and after release, strengthen links with community health services, and reduce the risk of ill health and reoffending. Your work will ensure a smooth transition and help reduce health inequalities for those leaving the criminal justice system.
Provide High Quality Care Navigation
- Support individuals pre and post release from North East prisons, and where needed, those released directly from court.
- Complete screening and care mapping assessments to plan effective release and health support.
- Deliver tailored, person centred support using a range of approaches and intensities.
- Use a coaching framework to empower individuals to manage their health and release plans independently.
Improve Health Outcomes & Reduce Reoffending
- Strengthen links with statutory and non statutory services to ensure continuity of care in the community.
- Promote positive health behaviours and contribute to health promotion events.
- Help reduce health inequalities by preventing a decline in wellbeing after release.
Work Collaboratively & Professionally
- Build effective relationships with partners and agencies, attending multi disciplinary meetings as needed.
- Uphold strong professional boundaries and model proactive, solution focused practice aligned with organisational values.
- Communicate clearly in both written and verbal form, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Deliver Accurate and Accountable Practice
- Keep detailed, timely and professional records on relevant clinical systems.
- Follow all pathways, processes and activity expectations, contributing to a high volume, fast paced service.
- Use self reflection, supervision, and training to maintain high standards and continually develop your practice.

- Work autonomously, planning your time and caseload efficiently.
- Meet deadlines, adapt to changing demands, and multitask confidently in a dynamic environment.

Essential Skills and Experience
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) with training relevant to Care Navigation, e.g., Health and Social Care.
- Experience supporting vulnerable individuals through 1:1 and/or group interventions, helping them identify, set and achieve goals.
- Working knowledge of health, social care, debt, housing, court systems, mental health, criminal justice and substance misuse services.
- Skilled in delivering structured, time limited support and confident working within defined frameworks.
- Passionate about supporting individuals leaving the criminal justice system, providing professional, high quality, person centred care that recognises diversity and individual life experiences.
- Patient, calm and respectful, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries in challenging situations.
- Capable of assessing needs, developing risk management plans and creating, implementing and reviewing individual support plans.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and respond positively to unforeseen challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build professional, non discriminatory relationships.
- Experience using clinical outcome measures to inform practice.
- Confident IT user, including Microsoft Word, Excel and database/information systems.
- Willing to engage in ongoing training, coaching and personal development, using supervision positively and being self reflective.
- Able to remain calm under pressure, seeking guidance from managers when required.

We’re looking for someone who has personal experience of mental illness and recovery to join our Involvement, Recovery & Wellness Centre team, working in partnership with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

- Use your lived experience to provide one-to-one and group peer support.
- Coach and mentor individuals to self-manage their mental health and achieve their goals.
