We meet on Friday's from 11:45am until 2pm.
Group Coordinator: Di and Sue
We are a relaxed and fun art and crafts women's group who meet every Friday at Bude Methodist Church Hall for a good measure of peer support amongst our paint, pens and brushes. Our members all have lived experience of mental illness, and we are here to listen and share experiences in a relaxed and compassionate atmosphere. We also occasionally organise lunches and invite speakers. Please call for an informal chat beforehand or meet up to hear more about us and our activities. We would love to hear from you. No experience of art and crafts necessary. Our activities are for all levels.

The Support Squad strive to bring together St. Mabyn residents and the surrounding local communities by promoting well-being and helping members of the group build valuable friendships. We aim to offer emotional support to adults with lived experience of mental illness, whether it be personally, or as caregivers, friends, or family, and provide them with the practical help needed to access local and national services. This information, peer support and signposting will be offered alongside a chance to share experiences, make new friends, and try new things, hoping that those attending the group may feel less isolated, more informed, and able to cope better. The Support Squad is a voluntary led peer support group, led by a group of five coordinators – we are a happy and supportive group who meet at St. Mabyn Peace Memorial Hall in the centre of the village. There is an accessible carpark within walking distance. New members are encouraged to contact the group for joining details and information about the next meeting. So please drop us a line on the group email or call on the group phone to find out more – we look forward to meeting you! Please note we aim to respond to emails and telephone messages everyday but sometimes it may take a little longer to get back to you.

COPE is a voluntary led peer-support group for families, friends, and carers of people with serious mental health illness who experience psychosis. Our group offers a safe, non-judgemental, and welcoming environment where members can meet to share experiences, signpost each other to other services and look after their well-being. We meet once a month and offer support and encouragement to one another in a respectful, confidential, and supportive space. To be heard is valuable. There is a car park at the centre, though there are not many parking spaces. The centre recommends those who are unable to walk more than a short distance park there and all others can park in the adjoining Cricketfield Car Park – this is a Pay and Display Long Stay carpark which is connected to the centre car park via a short footpath. The centre is a 13 min walk from Newton Abbot railway station and is well connected by buses. The group meets in the Yellow Room. There is provision for making hot drinks and refreshments in a small kitchenette and tea and coffee will be provided but members will be advised to bring their own lunch if required. Please drop us a line on the group email to find out more – we look forward to meeting you!

This peer support group is for family members or others affected by the serious mental illness of someone close to them. Those with a leading role in the group are all peer volunteers whose aim is to hold a safe space for people to come together in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Being outside together while working on and tending to an allotment can hopefully alleviate stress and there is also a shed where members can meet to create and share artwork, with the added bonus of a pleasant outside seating area. The group will signpost information where possible but mainly endeavour to offer a space where members can share experiences while doing something together, hence the name The Sharing Space. The use of the allotment for the group has been generously made possible by the committee of the Falmouth & District Allotment and Garden Society. Public toilets are a short walk away but there are none on site. There is provision for making hot drinks in the shed, but members should bring their own refreshments or packed lunch. Gardening gloves are also a good shout! Please email to find out directions and to ask further details – we are looking for members to come along on a regular basis and help keep the allotment ticking along – we look forward to seeing you soon!

Do you have a brother or sister living with mental illness? You are not alone! When your brother or sister is unwell it can be a difficult time for you and your family. You might have lots of questions and concerns. You might be worried about your sibling and how best to support them. You might need some support for yourself and find it difficult to know where to turn. The Bristol Siblings Group is a voluntary led peer support and we run the group in the evenings, once a month, via Zoom. A supportive space: Whether your sibling is experiencing ill mental health for the first time, or they have been affected by mental illness for longer, you are very welcome to come along to our monthly meetings where you can: • meet other siblings • share your experiences and the emotions you feel as a sibling • access information on mental health issues and sibling support • realise you are not alone. A place to share: The group is very friendly and informal, and you’ll have the chance to offload, and talk about whatever’s going on for you and your family. It’s up to you how much or little you talk, but you can feel sure there will people at the group who want to listen and connect with you. Information and learning: We share information on how to look after someone who is unwell or share ideas about how to look after our own mental health.

Southwest Carers is a voluntarily led peer support group for carers, who face the challenge of loving and caring for someone who has borderline personality disorder (BPD). We meet twice a month on Wednesday evenings in Zoom meetings where we offer a safe and friendly space to share worries, experiences, and our hopes for the future. We work together to access guidance and practical advice from experts in BPD and try to raise the profile of this distressing mental disorder. Please contact us by our email and we will get back to you with more details of the next meeting and to let you know more about the group. Group members say that they feel less alone and really value being able to talk to people who understand the complexities of caring for someone with BPD.
