About our equity, diversity, inclusion and involvement team

Creating an organisation where everyone feels they belong, and where people with lived experience help shape what we do, is central to our mission.

Our commitment to equity and racial justice was born following the publication of the Oxytocin Report in 2021, which set out recommendations to help us become an anti-racist organisation.

Across our People, Policy and Practice teams, colleagues work together to advance equity, inclusion, racial justice, involvement and volunteering.

While these areas sit within different teams, they share a common purpose: ensuring we are an inclusive employer and that the voices of the people we support help shape our services, policies and decisions.

Equity and racial justice

Our Equity and Racial Justice work sits within the Policy and Practice team and supports the delivery of our organisational strategy, Building Communities That Care. The team works to influence policy, campaigns and practice to tackle inequalities and improve equitable access to mental health support, while continuing our commitment to becoming an anti-racist organisation.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team sits within the People team and leads our work to create an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. The team delivers our EDI strategic plan, develops inclusive policies, tools and practices, supports leaders and colleagues and works in partnership across the organisation to embed equity in everything we do.

Read our EDI strategic plan here.

The team also supports our staff networks, including the Ability Inclusion Network, Race Equality Action Leaders (REAL) Network, Pride & Progress Network and Gender Equality Network, alongside our peer-led group – Rethinking Menopause Support Group.

Involvement and volunteering

Our Involvement and Volunteering team, also within the People team, works alongside people with lived experience, carers and volunteers to ensure their voices influence our work. Through co-production, engagement and volunteering opportunities, the team helps shape services, organisational priorities and decision-making.

This includes supporting our advisory groups, regional engagement opportunities and other ways for people with lived experience to contribute to the future of our organisation.
