Rethink Meetings of Minds Warwickshire
Open to: People With Mental Illness
Our group offers people living with mental illness the chance to come together in a safe, supportive, and welcoming space. Our group meets twice a week to socialise, share experiences, and offer support and encouragement to one another in a non-judgmental space to help build confidence, provide friendship, and give people a place to talk. We also offer activities that we can do together in the group meetings, some of which members may go on to continue at home as it introduces them to new things. Some of the activities that we will be doing include Arts, Photography, and Crafts, playing games and we also want to establish a walking group in the summer. This provides further opportunities to increase social and support networks and reduce isolation and loneliness.

We aim to combine traditional peer support with physical activity to improve the mental wellbeing of our members. The group will go on a different walk each week, around the local area to improve fitness and confidence and build friendships. Our longest walk never exceeds one hour, fifteen minutes, one way, level ground. Where possible we always like to find a café or similar for light refreshments. We appreciate that public transport can sometimes be late. If you are planning to come along, please message us so that we know to wait for you.

Do you have a brother or sister living with mental illness? You are not alone! When your brother or sister is unwell it can be a difficult time for you and your family. You might have lots of questions and concerns. You might be worried about your sibling and how best to support them. You might need some support for yourself and find it difficult to know where to turn. The Bristol Siblings Group is a voluntary led peer support and we run the group in the evenings, once a month, via Zoom. A supportive space: Whether your sibling is experiencing ill mental health for the first time, or they have been affected by mental illness for longer, you are very welcome to come along to our monthly meetings where you can: • meet other siblings • share your experiences and the emotions you feel as a sibling • access information on mental health issues and sibling support • realise you are not alone. A place to share: The group is very friendly and informal, and you’ll have the chance to offload, and talk about whatever’s going on for you and your family. It’s up to you how much or little you talk, but you can feel sure there will people at the group who want to listen and connect with you. Information and learning: We share information on how to look after someone who is unwell or share ideas about how to look after our own mental health.

Southwest Carers is a voluntarily led peer support group for carers, who face the challenge of loving and caring for someone who has borderline personality disorder (BPD). We meet twice a month on Wednesday evenings in Zoom meetings where we offer a safe and friendly space to share worries, experiences, and our hopes for the future. We work together to access guidance and practical advice from experts in BPD and try to raise the profile of this distressing mental disorder. Please contact us by our email and we will get back to you with more details of the next meeting and to let you know more about the group. Group members say that they feel less alone and really value being able to talk to people who understand the complexities of caring for someone with BPD.

We are run by carers, with carers, for carers of adults with mental health problems. Our aims are to: • Support and inform each other – through monthly groups, a phone line, informal advocacy and financial help – so that we know we are not alone • Help each other develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to do the best we can for our loved one with mental health problems • Provide information about training, helpful local agencies and rights • Work with carers to strengthen their voices as experts by experience so that the limited resources available to mental health and social care are put to the best possible use • Engage constructively with the NHS, the NHS Provider Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) and local authority commissioners to improve services – where necessary injecting a sense of urgency and an element of challenge

Why not put on your wellies and join us at Wild Walks for Wellbeing? Or maybe your walking boots! Come and enjoy the countryside, take a walk and nurture your wellbeing. We meet to provide friendship, support and company, which includes listening, alongside helping each other to keep active. We explore places in and around Bristol, with walks typically accessible from the city area. But if we go further afield, we use public transport together. We have been as far west as Cardiff and as far north as Worcester in the past. Get in contact for more details and an initial chat. All are welcome for any of our walks, and we look forward to meeting you!
