Support and connection: Sebastien's story

19 August 2026

At Rethink Mental Illness, I feel like I'm part of a team and that I'm valued whenever I interact with other people from around the organisation - this was apparent when I first joined.

I know that I can talk to IT or finance or my colleagues and get help/support with anything I need. This is especially nice as we're geographically distributed in Somerset with no 'office' - there's an amazing group chat that helps me feel connected to the team.

As a disabled person with energy limiting illnesses, I would not be able to do this job if it was not remote and I was supported with managing my hours and energy.

This role is a return to work after 10 years in another profession and after a gap of two years due to my poor health.

My contributions and work are valued and respected and I feel like I'm making a difference every day.
