Invaluable reasonable adjustments: Cody's story

19 August 2026

Hi, my name is Cody and I have worked within Rethink Mental Illness for over three years.

During this time, I have had the opportunity to work across different areas of the organisation. I began within Health and Justice as a Specialist Healthcare Navigator, supporting individuals leaving custody and reintegrating back into the community. I now work within Secure Inpatient Services as a Health and Wellbeing Coach, delivering low‑level psychological interventions on a 1:1 basis and in group settings with patients.

I have a background in psychology and have always been passionate about this type of work. One of the things I value most about my roles at Rethink is that no two days are ever the same.

I really enjoy building meaningful working relationships with both service users and colleagues, and I consistently feel supported in everything I do. The level of support offered to staff is genuinely incredible.

Rethink is an organisation that truly invests in its people. If personal development and progression are important to you, you are actively encouraged and supported by management to build your skills and explore new opportunities within the organisation.

During my time at Rethink, I received my diagnosis of ADHD. The support from my team, management, and the EDI support network has been invaluable. This has included monthly meetings, additional training, and reasonable adjustments where appropriate. Feeling seen, valued, and supported in this way is a huge reason why I have stayed at Rethink and continue to grow here.

If you are considering applying for a role with Rethink Mental Illness, I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it. This organisation has a genuine impact on people’s lives, is committed to lived experience and co‑production, and places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing
