Bristol Carer Service
Carer support
Often the person you are supporting is a family member such as a partner, wife, husband, son, daughter or a friend. Whether or not you think you are a ‘carer’, support is available. We help over 200 people a year across Bristol who are looking for advice, support or information.
What can I expect?
We normally offer an initial phonecall in which you can talk to a member of staff who is specialised in understanding the complexities of caring for someone with a mental illness. We are experienced in working with people from different communities and backgrounds, and respond to your individual needs.
We can provide:
• Carers assessments - we are Trusted Assessors for Bristol City Council.
• Individual (phone) support
• Practical advice
• Group support (online)
• Education seminars and courses
• Local newsletter
• Facilitated family meetings
• Liaison with mental health professionals
• Group and individual support for families involved in specialised and secure services
