Keward House is a supported housing service for people aged 18 years and above, who are living with a mental illness and have low-to-medium needs. It has 19 rooms divided into four suites, each with communal kitchens, bathroom and lounge areas within one large building. The service provides housing-related support to people who are at risk of not accessing or sustaining a home because of their mental health, vulnerability and/or a history of housing related problems. People can stay in the service for up to two years. The aim is to move people on to lead more independent lives in their own accommodation. If residents require additional support that isn’t housing related they will be signposted to appropriate services. Staff are based in an office on site.

Rethink Bristol services support people to recover a better quality of life through one-to-one support in accessing community facilities. The BME service works in partnership with statutory mental health teams and the BME voluntary sector to improve access to services for BME people. We recognise that people may wish to communicate in a language other than English, therefore access to interpreters can be arranged. At The Mead we believe that anyone who suffers from mental illness has the opportunity to live life to the full. The Mead offers 24-hour support, so there are always trained staff on hand to support residents and deal with any problems that might arise. Each resident has a ‘key worker’ who takes a special interest in their wellbeing, supporting them in what they wish to achieve while living at the home. This could include taking a college course, improving daily-living skills, working towards managing their own medication, or working to improve self-confidence. Staff work in a person-centred way to support each resident to achieve their goals. The service aims to support residents to become independent and move on to either a lower level support service or their own accommodation.
