Rethink Mental Illness in Sheffield is now able to offer Outreach intervention. The intervention includes up to 6 weeks of additional support for individuals that have been discharged from the Crisis House, helping to resolve the causes of the original crisis and implement plans to avoid future crisis. Support is provided face-to-face, by telephone, or through a mixture of the two.

Our 24/7 Sheffield Helpline offers emotional support and information to people affected by mental illness, aged 16 and over, who live in Sheffield or are under the care of Sheffield Health & Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. When you call the helpline you will be listened to, treated with dignity and respect, supported to develop coping skills and, if useful, signposted to helpful sources of information and to other services in your area who can help you on your road to recovery. We aim to answer your call within 3 rings, if we are busy, please do try again. If English is not your first language we can arrange to speak to you in your own language through an interpreter. Calls to our number are free from landlines and mobile phones. Our number will not show on your bill.

In the community:The IMHA service will work with qualifying patients who are under Supervised Community Treatment (CTOs) and live within the Barnsley Metropolitan Council Local Authority boundaries.In hospital and secure settings:We will work with any patient who is detained under the Mental Health Act (qualifying sections) within the Barnsley Metropolitan Council Local Authority area. This includes qualifying patients who are placed in hospitals or other secure settings within the Barnsley boundaries, but do not otherwise live in the area. The advocates will work with the clients to ensure that they understand their rights, understand any treatments being discussed and have a say in discussions about their care. If the patient has been assessed as lacking capacity to instruct an advocate, we will use Non-instructed Advocacy to ensure that the client is still at the centre of all care planning and decisions.The service is free to access and is independent from all other services
