About Wiltshire Working Well
Wiltshire Working Well offers practical, evidence based mental health training alongside early intervention support. The programme is designed to build confidence, improve understanding and reduce stigma around mental health at work, helping people feel more able to look after their own wellbeing and support others.
The training is practical, accessible and easy to apply in everyday working life, supporting workplaces across Wiltshire to create healthier, more supportive cultures.
Who is it for?
The programme is open to anyone who works in Wiltshire, including employers, employees, volunteers, managers and HR leads. It has a particular focus on supporting:
- Micro businesses and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs)
- Sole traders and self employed people
- Workforces who may not otherwise have access to mental health support
Whether you’re a business owner looking to strengthen your approach to wellbeing, a manager or HR lead supporting your team, or an employee wanting practical tools to look after yourself and others, Wiltshire Working Well is designed to be useful and easy to put into practice.
Long term and fully funded
Wiltshire Working Well is a three-year workplace mental health training programme fully funded by Wiltshire Council Public Health. By removing the common barrier of cost, the programme offers high-quality mental health training and support for organisations of all sizes.
Flexible training offer
Our training ranges from Mental Health Awareness and Mental Health for Managers, to Mental Health First Aid, and managing stress, burnout and supportive conversations.
Depending on the course, we can provide half-day workshops, bitesize sessions and 2-day options. We offer both open sessions and closed sessions, and you can choose if they are online or in-person.
The difference between open and closed sessions
Open sessions can be booked by individuals or small groups. They are designed to be welcoming for SMEs and micro-businesses. They can be a great way to learn alongside other Wiltshire employers and colleagues.
Closed sessions are arranged for a single organisation (or a defined group such as a sector network). They can be tailored to your context, roles and scenarios, and delivered online or in person. Closed courses are ideal if you want a shared learning experience for your whole team.

For employers / decision-makers
You don’t need a huge wellbeing team or budget to take meaningful action.
What employers can do
- Book places for staff on open sessions (ideal when you can’t fill a whole course).
- Arrange closed sessions for managers, teams or role groups.
- Choose online or in-person delivery across Wiltshire.
- Build a simple pathway (e.g., Awareness for all - Managers - Champions or MHFA).
Why it works for SMEs
- Time-efficient (including bite-size options).
- Practical and role-relevant.
- Easy to access (open sessions and hybrid delivery).
For employees
Build confidence, learn practical tools, and develop skills you can apply at work and in your life.
If you want to feel more confident supporting your own wellbeing - or supporting colleagues - these sessions are designed to help you learn in a clear, practical and supportive way.
What open sessions are like
Open sessions are interactive and grounded in real workplace examples. You’ll learn practical tools (not just theory), including ways to have supportive conversations and approaches to common workplace challenges like stress and burnout.
