Since 2017, Music 4 Wellbeing (M4W) has supported people challenged with mental health illnesses. We are a supportive, peer-led group that operates within a confidential and safe environment. We believe in the promotion of good mental health through discussions and expressing yourself through the playing of music. Our group philosophy has led to group members becoming more creative through exploring rhythms and beats. This has led to a reduction of anxiety and better social connections. Who runs this group?

Ann Philips
Ann Phillips began singing as a backing singer in a variety of groups at the age of 15. Childhood trauma affected her mental health but through music and counselling Ann’s life changed. She was able to reduce social anxiety and find her positivity again by rekindling her love for music. . Ann’s personal experiences led her to become an advocate for mental health and in 2017, Music 4 Wellbeing became a Rethink peer-led group.. As a qualified holistic massage therapist since 2004 and Federation of Holistic Therapist member, Ann’s lived experience and holistic training has allowed her focus on the healing power of music

Our group aims to help carers and their partners, relatives and friends with a wide range of mental health problems, including accessing the information they need.
