Rowan House
Housing
Rowan House is an intensive support service designed to promote recovery and improve social inclusion for adults with mental illness. It also supports peoples transition back to community living. The service is commissioned and regulated by Wiltshire Council. It is not Care Quality Commission Registered Care, nor is it solely housing-related support, but provides an innovative approach to the delivery of time-limited, outcome-focused care and support tailored to each persons needs. The service is delivered in accommodation provided by Selwood Housing. Short term support is provided by Rethink Mental Illness, up to a maximum of two years.

At The Mead we believe that anyone who suffers from mental illness has the opportunity to live life to the full. The Mead offers 24-hour support, so there are always trained staff on hand to support residents and deal with any problems that might arise. Each resident has a ‘key worker’ who takes a special interest in their wellbeing, supporting them in what they wish to achieve while living at the home. This could include taking a college course, improving daily-living skills, working towards managing their own medication, or working to improve self-confidence. Staff work in a person-centred way to support each resident to achieve their goals. The service aims to support residents to become independent and move on to either a lower level support service or their own accommodation.

The Bristol BAME Service works with existing Bristol Community Support Services in responding appropriately to the mental health needs of people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. Rethink Bristol services support people to recover a better quality of life through one-to-one support in accessing community facilities. The BME service works in partnership with statutory mental health teams and the BME voluntary sector to improve access to services for BME people. We recognise that people may wish to communicate in a language other than English, therefore access to interpreters can be arranged. Service literature is available in Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.
