Advice and helplines

Who we are

Our Suicide Prevention and Bereavement Support Service is for people aged 18+, who live, work or study in the 5 North Central London boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Haringey, Islington and Enfield.

The helpline is open to people who are currently experiencing suicidal thoughts, or have experienced suicidal feelings in the past,  their family, friends or carers.

We also support people who are affected by bereavement by suicide e.g. families and friends but also to those who have been exposed to suicide e.g. neighbours, schools, colleges, social groups and healthcare professionals.


What we can provide


Our helpline provides support via:

  • a freephone number 08088 02 00 80 (Calls to this helpline are free from landlines and mobile phones within the UK and do not appear on itemised bills.)


  • by text message on 07860 058 793 (Text messages are charged at usual network rate and texts will be responded to during helpline opening hours)


  • webchat, which can be accessed during service opening hours by clicking on the blue button on the bottom right of this page that will display during opening hours


Our helpline is open:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6pm-8pm and Sunday from 6pm-9pm.


We can provide you with

  • Up to 30 minutes of telephone support per evening
  • Up to 30 minutes of web chat support per evening
  • Text message support for the duration of the opening hours each evening


We believe in respecting & maintaining your confidentiality. We will not share your personal information with others without your consent except in exceptional circumstances where there is a risk to yourself or others, or where we are legally obliged to do so. In these cases other agencies may be able to trace your call. If we need to break your confidentiality we will, where possible, tell you & explain the reasons why.

For people whose first language is not English, we use Language Line with translators who speak over 240 languages

Get Involved

We want to involve people with lived experience of bereavement by suicide or who have experience of suicidal feelings in the delivery our service.  We have various Volunteer and Peer Support Worker roles.

These roles including helping with:

  • Service Promotion, attending events/forums and distributing promotional materials.
  • Providing Helpline support

Full training and support will be given for all Volunteer and Peer Support Worker roles.

Volunteer and peer support roles will not be live until after the Covid19 pandemic has resolved.
