Stress Awareness Month has been running every April since 1992 in a bid to increase public awareness of both the causes and treatments for stress.

Millions around the UK experience stress and it is damaging to our health and wellbeing. For example, at some point in the last year, 74% of us have felt so stressed that we have felt unable to cope (Mental Health Foundation).

For those of us who live with mental illness, stress can exacerbate symptoms and make the illness worse. Stress can also be a major driver behind mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. Stress Awareness Month can help all of us realise what is causing us personal stress and the necessary steps to take in order to reduce levels of stress for ourselves and those around us.
