Information for carers, friends and relatives
If you are a carer, friend or family member of someone living with an eating disorder you may need support yourself. Caring for someone with an eating disorder can be difficult. It is important to seek emotional support if you are struggling to cope. You could try contacting one of the organisations listed in the ‘Useful Contacts’ section. You can also check to see if there are any support groups for carers in your area.
You may need support to care for someone with an eating disorder. If this is the case you could ask for a carer’s assessment.
There are different resources you can use to help you support someone with an eating disorder. These can be resources available online or through books. In the Further Reading section there are some resources you might find useful.
