Rethink Trust Corporation
Why should I appoint Rethink Trust Corporation as a trustee?
This scheme is run by Rethink Mental Illness so you can be sure that the people in charge understand the circumstances and needs of people who are affected by severe mental illness. For over 40 years we have brought people together to support each other - we believe that a better life is possible for millions of people affected by mental illness.
At the moment we manage over 50 trusts for our beneficiaries. We will be taking care of 200 more in the near future. The wishes of the settlors, and the life long benefit to people with mental illness is at the heart of everything we do at Rethink Trust Corporation.
Can the trustees actually look after the beneficiary?
No, the duty of the trustee is limited to managing and distributing the trust fund in line with the terms of the trust. In other words, this means that a trustee looks after the money rather than looking after the beneficiary personally. You can get more information on making sure the beneficiary is looked after here.
How will my loved one access the trust fund after I have passed away?
When assets from your estate fall into the trust, we will contact the principal beneficiary directly to introduce ourselves. We will then let them know how they can contacts us to request payments from the fund. They can contact us either by calling a dedicated telephone number, e-mailing us or in writing. We will ask them questions about their request and the directors of Rethink Trust Corporation and any other trustee will make a decision about whether to release the funds.
