Information for parents
When one of your children is diagnosed with mental illness, it will have an affect on the whole family. A mother's experience is different than a father's experience and a parent's experience is different than that of a brother or sister.
When you have more than one child, you may be unsure of how mental illness might affect your other children, what information they might need and how you can support one another to recover.
Everyone will learn to cope with the issues presented by mental illness in their own way and at their own rate, but it can greatly help your other children if you are able to take time to explain what has happened as best you can and learn more together.

You can also tell your children about our Siblings Network so that they can find information themselves and talk to others to share ideas and experiences.
