Events and workshops - Talking space: Share experiences, advice and problem solve
Share your stories, advice and problem solve with other siblings in a facilitated peer support session.
Wednesday 12 June 18.30 - 20.30 in North London (Camden)
You may experience a variety of emotions when your sibling becomes ill, and these may change over time and as circumstances change.
You might be worried about how to support your sibling or how to get support for yourself. You could be feeling guilty or angry about what has happened, or scared about what the future may bring. Or perhaps you feel proud of your sibling and family and how far you have come.
Whatever your feelings and experiences, it can sometimes be hard to find a space to talk about them with people who understand and to begin to address them.
This workshop will provide you with that chance.
What have previous attendees of this workshop said?
Talking Space provided fantastically effective opportunity to hear the remarkable stories of fellow siblings and hear their coping strategies people have developed in order to reclaim and maintain their own lives.
Talking Space exceeded my expectations. Other people can be incredibly insightful and it was fascinating to hear other people's solutions.
Who will be leading this workshop?
This workshop will be led by Kirstin, a senior officer from Rethink Mental Illness, and will be facilitated by coordinators from our London sibling support group.
Kirstin's work at Rethink Mental Illness includes delivering Mental Health Awareness workshops in community settings, supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties in facilitating peer-to-peer support and providing training for professionals and siblings around mental health and mental illness.
