Our people, our history - Jonny and Neil
Rethink Mental Illness is the official charity partner of our ambassadors Jonny Benjamin MBE and Neil Laybourn, who work to raise awareness and increase understanding of mental health with people and businesses in the UK and internationally.
Jonny and Neil first met in 2008 when Neil stopped on his way to work one morning and spoke to Jonny, stopping him from taking his own life. Six years later, they were reunited through our #FindMike campaign, which became a global phenomenon and reached 300 million people.
Jonny’s reunion with Neil was filmed for a Channel 4 documentary, and we are proud to continue working with Jonny and Neil, and support their goal of building knowledge about mental health and reducing suicide. This work is taking them all over the world. This year alone we are working with them to support activity with a number of large organisations, including:
- Lloyds Banking Group
- Bank of America Merrill Lynch
- The Law Society
And they have also spoken at a wide variety of other organisations such as NHS Trusts, universities and schools, and at events such as the Mental Wealth and Dive In Festivals.
