Dealing with stress, staying calm
Getting involved in new activities, including leading them, can be stressful.
Ideas from young people of what can help...
- singing
- writing in a diary or journal about all the interesting things you've been doing in the last day or two
- counting to 10
- watching tv
- listening to music
- having a bath
- eating
- cooking
- reading
- going for a walk
- going to see a friend
- meditating
Other things that might help:
Make a plan of all the things you need to do – write it down and perhaps then talk through your ideas with someone.
Break things down into small steps – this can make things look more achievable.
Take one decision at a time – trying to decide everything at once often means that everything feels too much and then nothing gets decided.
If you're not sure about something, do you need to get more information or someone to help you?
Remember to get enough sleep, to eat regularly and don't forget everyday life...
