How about just adding them in pretty much the order that they went into the gallery? Perhaps to have a limit per artist of - say - 2 or 3 in any one slide-show might make things things feel more evenly distributed?

I posted too much in the gallery. Like others I had no intention of these being in a contest or being used on the site proper. Perhaps a new a thread where such things can be either newly created for or elected for validation? These would provide a pool of carefully vetted stock images that are service user generated and yet could represent Rethink in various publications?

All these ideas are possible - need it to be low-admin to maintain though, so I'm going to chew on this for a bit.

[edit] AlienP's idea in combination with an auto-generated slideshow is where I'm thinking - I will be back!

Okay - this is an experiment...

I have created a Picasa picture album with email access.

If you are happy to have your picture in a slideshow on the homepage, email it to this address:

100418063445991876761.rethinktalk@picasaweb.com

In the email Subject line, put: RethinkTalk Gallery

I will update you if this doesn't work for some reason!

Are there any size limits? I have scaled my offering down to 690 x 570 px

I test-sent a 1024 width pic and it went in fine. I suspect the size limit will be determined by the capacity of the free Picasa account, so don't worry about it for now!

Good choice btw, I like 'Two Guitars' a lot!

Thanks Chris; I was wondering about image size as not all of us have 19" wide-screen monitors ...

The slideshow will be quite small to fit into the homepage, but users can then click through to see the full size versions on Picasa, which resizes large images to fit screen quite neatly. So no problem!

BTW, I have received a test picture from someone of a dog and duck (not a pub, an actual dog and duck) proving the system works...so please send lots of pictures you artists, you know who you are!

We have two pictures in the slideshow but I would like more if possible!

If you are happy to have your picture in a slideshow on the homepage, email it to this address:

In the email Subject line, put: RethinkTalk Gallery

*Or* just let me know that you're happy for me to pick and choose from the ones you've posted here already and I will do the rest.

Wow. I've tried to shoot the moon but didn't get results like that. Wow.

Use manual or shutter priority and a steady stand. The auto settings on digital cameras can't deal with the contrast. Don't give the exposure too much time, I think this was 160ms. Better to take a picture a little dim and enhance in 'shop than lose detail with a bright disc.
