Refer a sibling to our workshops
Our young siblings workshops will be delivered over the next 2 years across England. We work with young people aged 14-18 and 19-25 who have a brother or sister who is experiencing mental health or emotional difficulties.
The workshops are generally delivered over 3-4 hours (though there is flexibility with this in terms of best meeting partners and service-users requirements.)
The workshops are self-referral based, though we do like to speak to the young people in advance of the workshop starts to provide them with more detailed information and ensure that they have input into shaping the content of the sessions. Partner agencies can therefore signpost young people at any time, regardless of when the next local workshop starts.
For more information on the workshops and available dates, please contact siblingsprogramme@rethink.org or call 020 7840 3016.
The siblings workshops provide opportunities for young people who have siblings experiencing mental health difficulties to:
- meet other young people in a similar position
- build their support networks
- discuss their thoughts and feelings in a supportive, open environment
- have access to information, advice and support
- get involved with creative activities
The content of the siblings workshops has been designed by Rethink Mental Illness’ Young People Team based on consultation with siblings, service users and service providers, and with reference to best-practice models.
Each workshop is tailored to best meet the needs of each specific group. We also signpost siblings on to further opportunities locally and within Rethink Mental Illness to ensure ongoing support and access to further opportunities in areas that are of specific interest to them, for example campaigning, lobbying, getting involved in a virtual online network and developing sibling support groups.
