Side effects of benzodiazepines

Like many drugs, taking benzodiazepines can cause side effects in some people, often described like a hang-over effect, by feeling effects of the drug the next day.
Some of the more commonly reported include:

Confusion, stumbling - this is especially problematic for elderly people taking this drug, memory loss, drowsiness, light-headedness, aggression

Some of the rarer side effects you may experience could include:

feeling excitable, talkative, unfriendly or disinhibited; have a pounding headache, a blotchy rash (see the doctor immediately)

Not everyone will experience side effects from taking benzodiazepines, but if you are getting physical symptoms that you are worried about or are causing you distress you should talk to your doctor about this, as it may be possible to reduce you dose.
