Mind has produced a useful fact sheet on insurance and mental illness in addition to being able to put you in touch with suitable insurance brokers. If you are discriminated against, they have a list of solicitors which deal with disability law.

Disability Rights Commission helpline provides information and advice about all aspects of the DDA, as well as signposting specialist organisations where necessary. In addition, it can offer good practice advice on the employment of disabled people.
In general, the DRC makes no charge for its services - this would include all of the public services offered by the Commission including any advice or support that you seek under the DDA or information or guidance towards best practice.

Financial Ombudsman Service provides a free, independent service for dealing with financial firms including insurers. You can complain to them about an insurer if you have received an unsatisfactory response from the insurer to a complaint.
They have detailed information on both making complaints to an insurer and to the ombudsman.

The Social Exclusion Unit was set up by the Prime Minister to help improve government action to reduce social exclusion. This includes discrimination and exclusion of certain groups, including people with mental health problems, from services such as insurance.
