Exercise & activity

During times of crisis our mental health can change our motivation, energy levels and ability to plan, organise and make decisions.
Because of this people often experience disruptions to their normal routines, and many report feeling unable to function normally.

During such times, and especially for people with disorders that involve depressive episodes, activity and exercise can fall by the wayside.

When we don’t get enough exercise this can lead to weight gain and long term health problems with blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases.

Exercise also has a number of positive benefits for our mental as well as physical health.

The release of endorphins in the brain during physical activity can lift mood and so is particularly good for people suffering depression and low mood

Exercise is now generally accepted within the medical profession as an important part of good health, and it is possible to get Exercise on prescription which can help towards the costs of getting fit.
