An action pack for the forgotten generation

Have you had a mental illness for many years? Do you feel isolated in your community and unable to make the most of life? Well, read on – this action pack is for you.

Rethink knows that many people (almost 50,000) have lived in the community with mental illness for a number of years, without enough support. We want to make sure that everyone gets the chance to improve the quality of their life and fulfil their ambitions.

In this action pack, you will find advice about how to:

Information about various types of services you could get involved in and how to get a Care Programme Approach assessment.

Advice on ways to cope with and manage your condition including finding a complementary therapy that works for you and how to maintain relationships with people around you.

Tips on how to keep in good physical health through healthy eating, exercise and relaxation and how your mental health will benefit as a result. 

How to get the best out of your GP check-ups.

Advice on how to check that you are getting the benefits that you're entitled to and on how to get back into the work place.

Information on the side effects that certain medicines may include and advice on how to get a medication review from your GP to make sure you are taking the best medicine for you. 

Advice for carers of people with mental illness inlcuding how to get a carers assessment and where to find other sources of help including financial support.
