How can someone who self harms help themselves?
Stopping self harm is difficult. The first step is to decide that they want to stop, even though it may not be the right time, the first step is simply thinking about it.
Deciding to stop
Once the decision has been made that the time is right to stop there is plenty that can be done to increase control over self-harming behaviour. However, everybody is unique and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another.
