Help from voluntary agencies
If you are getting no luck in asking for help from health professionals sometimes local voluntary groups with links to the mental health services can help. Alternatively, national voluntary organisations may be able to advise you or recommend someone who can help you locally.
Examples of people or organisations that may be able to help include:
Services run by voluntary organisations
Sometimes staff from a service offered by a recognised voluntary organisation can access services easier than you can alone. Day centre staffs have day to day contact with the mental health services and their recommendation that someone is unwell and needs assessment may be accepted more from them.
Rethink National Advice Service
The National Advice Service provides advice on information for people with severe mental health problems, their friends, family and professionals. They have experience of working with people who are in a crisis situation and are having difficulty getting help.
