Developing a Rethink Outcomes Framework
There has in recent years been a growing interest in documenting outcomes in health and social care. This attention to evidence and outcomes is recognised by Rethink as an opportunity to demonstrate the value of our work. Capturing outcome data is a key element in Rethink’s Best Practice Standards for Service Delivery, making it an essential and required aspect of routine practice. Developing a high quality and consistent approach to documenting outcomes across Rethink allow a better local, regional and national understanding of the quality of our work, and can therefore also support internal service development initiatives.
In 2008 Rethink’s eight regions and Rethink in Northern Ireland nominated services across a range of service types to take part in explorative development and pilot work, working in collaboration with the Rethink Research Department to identify relevant outcomes tools and develop best practices for their usage as part of routine practice. Since the summer 2009 this work has focused on integrating tools for routine outcome data with personal goal and support planning, and the new practices are going to be introduced across Rethink services in 2011.
