Viewpoint Survey

The Viewpoint study examines service users’ experiences of discrimination, using a national survey design

The project started in 2008, providing a baseline measure, and will be repeated each year until 2012. Every year 1,000 mental health service users are recruited from across five NHS Trusts. Data are collected through telephone interviews conducted by trained interviewers, many of whom have experience of mental health problems themselves. The study forms part of the evaluation of national anti-stigma campaign Time to Change, and examines whether there is improvement in service users’ experiences over the life of the campaign. The study is supported by the Mental Health Research Network.
