Current Campaigns
Living with mental illness can be challenging. But it would be easier if people affected by mental illness weren't faced with daily barriers caused by lack of understanding and poor access to services. We campaign to overcome those barriers – find out how!
20 Years Too Soon is our extensive campaign on the much neglected physical health needs for people affected by mental illness. It's not right that people with mental illness die 20 years younger than the average population of disseases that are preventable.

Did You Know About The Human Cost?
People with a long-term mental illness:
- Die up to 20 years younger compared with the rest of the population – not just from suicide but from preventable physical illnesses
- Often end up in prison or homeless, because they haven't had cost-effective treatments that could have prevented this
Did You Know About The Financial Cost?
Mental illness costs the nation around £33.75 billion a year, but less than a quarter of that goes on health services. - The police, benefits system, housing services and others often have to pick up the pieces when things go wrong.
But it doesn’t have to be like this
- When people with severe mental illness do get fair access to the decent treatment they deserve, they stand a good chance of recovering, and getting back their lives.
- There’s a wealth of evidence suggesting that decent mental health treatment produces better long-term outcomes, for less money.
