Media volunteers
Are you interested in becoming a media volunteer? Read on to find out more about what it involves.
In January 2007 Rethink will launch a major month long campaign in Northern Ireland to address public attitudes to people living with mental ill health. There will be TV and poster advertising, publicity events, information fairs, a film festival, a schools’ and student initiative, political lobbying opportunities and a month of major media coverage.
To make this happen we are recruiting Media Volunteers, people who have experienced the negative and who now want to do something positive.
We will provide you with training and support to play your part in the media campaign.
As a Media Volunteer you will learn how to give interviews to print journalists; take part in radio and/or TV interviews and how to create interesting photo-opportunities for press photographers.
From April Rethink will begin providing training for new media volunteers. There will be 4 days of training delivered over a number of months. Once trained, media volunteers will have the opportunity to meet together as a group to contribute to planning future events.
