Experts recommend Class C

The expert body tasked with reviewing cannabis classification has recommended that cannabis stays a Class C drug.

The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD), has recommended that cannabis should stay a Class C drug. Their report also urges the government to develop a full public health strategy to relay the potential mental health dangers of cannabis use.

This is exactly what Rethink has been campaigning for. We know that illegality makes no difference to the number of people using cannabis, and when we gave evidence to the ACMD in February we explained the need for a public education campaign.
