Rethink membership at no cost

You can download our leaflet promoting Rethink Membership. We currently have around 8,000 members and need more to strengthen our voice as a campaigning charity. Membership is now available on a 'pay what you can' basis.

Under this scheme, users and carers who wish to join Rethink can do so for no charge, or can make a donation to cover costs. Previously many people who could benefit from membership had identified cost as a barrier. Fill in our Rethink membership form or you can it by calling 0845 456 0455.

Rethink is the charity for everyone dealing with severe mental illness - and we want you to join us too.

As a member you'll get:

  • Regular copies of Your Voice, our membership magazine, that will keep you in touch with the latest on mental health.
  • Dedicated advice and support on our special member's phone lines, and access to member's groups.
  • Access to the members online area on this site, you can upgrade your "My Rethink" account to a membership account and access our membership section with extra information aimed specifically at members.  You'll also receive 25% off Rethink publications orders from our new Mental Health Shop.
  • 20% off Mental Health Today subscriptions.   Mental Health Today is the only UK multi-disciplinary magazine focusing solely on the health and social care needs of people with mental health problems, from the user and professional perspectives. You can find out more about this in the online membership section or by calling the membership team: 0845 456 0455.
  • A chance to have your opinions and ideas heard by people who help shape mental health policy.

And you'll be helping Rethink's work too. So why not Join Rethink today?

Become involved

As a member you can help to make a difference, however you want to be involved. This can be just by filling in a membership form, becoming a paid member of staff or a campaign volunteer, a Board of Trustees member, part of the regional reference group, becoming a Rethink activist or a user of our services.

Whichever is right for you, we value your contribution. We ask people who can, to pay at least £15 (£6 unwaged) to cover the costs of membership. But we do not want your ability to pay to stop you from joining Rethink today, so you may also pay what you can.

Help us influence the media, the Government and the public

We work together to reach more people, improve more lives and change the way everyone affected by severe mental illness is regarded, treated and cared for. You’ll be helping us to influence the media, the Government and the public – and helping them to rethink.

And you’ll be helping shape Rethink for the future. The knowledge and experience of all our members is fundamental to the way we work and helps us focus our campaigning activitieson issues that directly affect our members’ daily lives. We are already a powerful campaigning voice and we are dedicated to continuing the fight for change. Together, we can cure the three biggest mental health problems – prejudice, ignorance and fear.
