Fundraisers of the Month - John, Paul & Deagal
01 May 2012, Long Distance Cycling Heroes - 31 May 2012
About the event
We’ve barely had the chance to recover from the blisters and sore muscles of our London Marathon stars last month (£17,000 and rising). When not one but THREE heroic cyclists are setting out on epic adventures across the UK and Europe to raise money for Rethink Mental Illness.
First up is
Dr Paul Cosford who left Land’s End at 7am on Friday 27th for a gentle trip just as
far as John O’Groats. "For me it's a
personal challenge, 100 miles a day for 9 days. Rethink Mental Illness is a
charity I first came into contact with when working as a psychiatrist in the late
1980s, and was incredibly impressed with their practical support for people
with serious mental health problems. I would love your support by donating to
Rethink Mental Illness via http://www.justgiving.com/PaulCosford."
Daegal Brain
is also doing Lands End to John O’Groats and departs soon, in May. “I'm from New Zealand originally and my
family back over there think very highly of the tremendous work they continue
to undertake supporting people affected by mental health issues. For my family,
this has been a close encounter. Sometime ago now, a family member became so
overwhelmed, illness very nearly took her life. In her words: "Its been a tough journey but my friends and
family have given me hope and helped me get through. You can have a mental
illness and lead a rewarding life. I am one of the lucky ones who responds to
medication and gets better all the time. I feel fortunate." You can support me at http://www.justgiving.com/bagelonabike
