Partnership Opportunities

Through supporting the work of Rethink, you will not only ensure that you are making a real difference to the lives of people affected by severe mental illness but major benefits can be achieved for your company - whatever the size.

People together - annual report 2006 cover photoThere are a number of different ways you can get involved, a few of which are detailed below. Whichever way you decide, giving can improve your reputation and image in the community, in the workplace and demonstrate that your company feels good about itself.

Rethink and The Money Centre

The Money Centre recently chose Rethink as their joint charity of the year! Paul Jenkins our CEO said “We are honoured to have been chosen by staff as one of their preferred charities and look forward to working together over the next 12 months. On behalf of the people with mental health problems that we represent, I’d like to thank The Money Centre’s employees for their generosity and support.”

Rethink's celebrity quiz

Celebrity quiz In 2005 we worked in partnership with Morgan Brookes plc on Rethink's Celebrity Quiz. The quiz was hosted by Angela Rippon and attracted such celebrities as Melinda Messenger and Verona Joseph ( Holby City ). The quiz was a great success with over 200 attendees from many different companies who all competed against each other for the title of Celebrity Quiz champions.

On 17th October 2007, Des Lynam will be holding our second Rethink Celebrity Quiz at BAFTA in Central London. With its innovative and creative format, the quiz aims to challenge minds in the most engaging and compelling way possible. Our interactive quiz is a state of the art event providing the perfect platform for companies to entertain clients and colleagues alike and to pit one’s wits against a range of celebrity guests.

Mental Health Awareness

As well as the different ways you can support Rethink, we can help you to address mental health issues in your company.

We can work with your company to raise mental health awareness of, reduce prejudice to and remove fear of, mental illness within the workplace. This would include: information packs for line managers and employees, a mental health awareness week, leaflets on five simple ways to look after your mental health every day and signposting employees where to get help or get additional information.

We are also developing tailored training courses for HR staff, line managers and employees in your company to increase mental health awareness and promote positive behaviour towards colleagues who choose to disclose their mental health problems, with particular emphasis on reducing stigma.

Cause related marketing

We have experience of running cause related marketing campaigns and have worked closely with Cobra Beer and the Bangladeshi Welfare Association to run a fundraising evening in over 150 Indian restaurants in the London area. The Media partner for the initiative was The Evening Standard which covered the campaign over three days.

Employee Involvement

There are lots of other opportunities to work with Rethink, the leading national mental health membership charity. Rethink can run mental health awareness talks with your employees or place video presentations from people directly affected by mental illness on the staff intranet site to engage staff.

These talks would introduce people to the issues around mental health and would seek to address any misunderstandings and/or questions so that employees are better informed. In addition, we can also work within the context of your current corporate social responsibility policies and employees’ interests to deliver a fundraising programme which is acceptable and relevant to your employees. This could include:

Information, materials and a dedicated point of contact to support employee fundraising in your company.

A payroll giving communication to promote support for Rethink.

Volunteering, secondment and mentoring opportunities.

Opportunities for individual staff to run in the Flora London Marathon, the Great North Run, take part in an overseas challenge such as a Trek in Peru or Cycling from London to Paris.

Specific team building activities like white water rafting, or painting a local service.

Payroll giving

It's really easy to set up a payroll giving scheme within your company. To start the scheme your company will need to register with The Charities Aid Foundation. Please email giveasyouearn@CAFonline.org or phone 01732 520 019 and give your details. Give As You Earn instruction forms can then be distributed to all your core offices. Employees will fill these in and then send to payroll. There are many benefits for your company and employees in giving to Rethink in this way:

For your company:

  • Employee engagement-boosts the commitment, morale, recruitment and retention of staff
  • Enhanced community investment programme
  • Improved company profile.

For your employees:

  • Ability to support Rethink on a regular basis
  • Flexibility-payments can be changed or stopped at any time.
