The debate over pets is an ongoing, circular one in our household. Most of all, in the whole, whole, whole, whole world, Harriet would like a dog. The one drawback: I have always hated dogs.

We know how quickly a new day approaches, the time is constant – we live the repeated revolutions of the Earth. But there are those days that for whatever reason assume greater significance and whose approach seems to hasten with rapidly increasing speed. Sunday the 18th May 2008 was one such day.

Could there be a link between “madness” and creativity? Although I am certainly no expert, I believe that there is, that my own intense extremes of mood play a significant role in my ability to write creatively.

My CPN decided that I needed help around the home and to access social groups. So, as she is also my care coordinator, she made a referral to Social Services.

That’s all there is that’s typical about caring for my wife, Harriet. Sunday evening was spent paddling in the cool shallows of the Avon, near Rugby, while Saturday lunchtime involved a frenzied tug-of-war over the red biro she’d been using to scribble on the living room walls, after a sudden panicked upset.

I have the much dreaded dilemma of whether to disclose my illness to a friend or not.
I was registered with a GP and I stupidly gave them my new address. I had a letter from them a few days ago informing me that I was no longer in their catchment area and that I had to register somewhere else.
This would be fine, except that CPNs are assigned according to what surgery the patient is registered with.

Stephen Fry 'coming out' as a manic depressive in 2006 has made it more in-vogue to be Bipolar - and certainly it has made me more comfortable about admitting my 'secret' to close friends.
