I hope this page i will just you a brief introduction into evryones role who you are likley to meet if you have to go into hospital.

A social worker who is specifically trained and approved by the Local Authority who can assess a person’s mental state and decide whether they require admission to hospital and arrange that admission.

Community support worker

the person who has most contact with the service user and is responsible for co-ordinating the services set out in the Care Plan.

Clinical psychologist

a psychologist who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems from a non medical perspective, often providing specialist psychotherapy.

Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN)

A qualified nurse who will provide out patient and follow-up care and support when the person is living at home.

Community support worker

A worker who is trained to provide practical support to people living in the community.

Psychiatrist

Medical doctor who has undergone specialist training in Psychiatry and can assess, diagnose and offer treatment for mental illness.

General Practitioner (GP)

Your own doctor or the doctor caring for the person you are caring for.

Occupational therapist

a qualified therapist specialising in assessing how leisure, work and daily life could be made better for people through holistic individual assessment and intervention.

Physiotherapist

a qualified therapist who addresses physical and mental health problems holistically, including muscle and joint problems, mobility, stress and devises physical fitness programs.

Advocacy worker

an independent worker who will support you in making clear your needs with regard to the care you receive.

Arts/Creative therapist

a qualified therapist who uses a creative medium (eg art,music,drama) to help people change the way they think and feel about themselves and the world.

Administrative staff

Receptionists/Secretaries - Receptionists and secretaries perform a wide variety of tasks in supporting mental health workers including general typing, minute taking, arranging appointments and meetings.

Housekeepers

Housekeepers generally work within inpatient units and have a role that includes cleaning both on wards and in the Hospital communal areas, checking levels of food on ward kitchens and the warming and preparation of cook chill meals.
