What to take into hospital

Hospital Questions, jess's questions around doing into hospital. You will need most of the things you would normally use at home.
If possible please bring any existing medication with you to the unit so that it can be assessed or if necessary administered by the support team. A number of changes of clothes will also be required including outdoor and night clothes. If family and/or carers can arrange for your personal laundry to be done this is always preferable and you might want to consider marking your own clothing to keep it safe.

A supply of toiletries including hairbrush, disposable razors, toothbrush and toothpaste etc. are always useful, but can be provided if needed, towels and electric hairdryers however, are also usually provided.

You may also need to remember to include benefit order books, spectacles, dentures and other aids if you use them.

There are usually no laundry facilities; therefore, clothing will need to be collected by family/carer for home laundering. Check with the hospital.

Money and valuables

You are strongly advised not to bring valuables or money, if you do take them in, then they must be handed in the nurse in charge who will put them into the hospital safe, and a receipt will be given to you. Please note that hospitals do not usually accept responsibility for personal property that you do not put into the safe.
