How the scheme can benefit you the carer:
- You will have a break from your caring role for up to an agreed amount of hours a week.
- You can be sure that a quality service is being provided for the person you care for.
- You will know that they will be involved in a scheme that gives them the opportunity to meet new people and take part in activities in the community.
- You will be able to have a say in how the service develops to ensure that it meets their needs.
- You will get support from your local Carers Development Worker, relevant information about caring and the opportunity to attend carers groups.
How the scheme can benefit the person you care for:
A trained worker will befriend the person you care for and will:
- Provide them with a listening ear and time to chat.
- Accompany them in activities in the community.
- Encourage them with practical tasks such as shopping, light household tasks and the preparation of a meal.
- Allow them to be involved in choosing their own activities.
