I was diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder in September 2007, though I was originally diagnosed with Schizophrenia in January 2004. My diagnosis was changed after long discussions with my psychiatrist, who has been brilliant throughout it all.

With the help of Lithium, I’m more stable than I was a year ago, and I’ve recently completed 16 weeks of NHS-funded psychotherapy. I’m studying for a degree with the Open University and am in the process of writing a semi-autobiographical novel based on my Bipolar Roller-coaster.

My Bipolar journey began properly eleven years ago, when I was fifteen; I was twenty-two before I had any contact with mental health services.  Through this blog, I hope to share some of my experiences of mental illness, in the hope that by talking about what happened to me, I can help others, and their families, who are going through similar experiences.
