About Rethink's blog area

Rethink launched its blogs section in Autumn 2007 visit: http://www.rethink.org/blogs

A Blog, short for web log, is a place for an author to write about their experiences or views and can be used as a diary format or a place to present ideas and thoughts.  Any visitor to the website can post their comments and views, which are checked by Rethink before they are posted underneath a blog entry.

You can view the list of authors by clicking on the option in the right hand column. Each author has a profile explaining who they are and what perspective their blog is written from.  You can search blog entries by topic by clicking on the drop down list in the right hand column. For example, if you chose “siblings”, all blogs entries relating to this topic will appear.

Blog entries could be about a variety of topics, for example, applying for jobs, stigma and discrimination or medication and treatments.  Blog entries will be moderated and possibly edited, with the author’s agreement, before being posted onto the Rethink website.

If you would like to volunteer to write a blog for Rethink or would like to discuss it further please email webmaster@rethink.org.  If you can send an example of a blog entry we can then decide whether your blog would be appropriate for Rethink to host.

Volunteer to write a blog for the Rethink site

We'd really like to have blogs from a variety of people about their experiences of mental illness, whether as a carer or as someone with experience of mental illness.  You don’t have to give your real name when writing a blog and you can keep details general so that you won’t be recognised.

To volunteer to write a blog for Rethink you need to be able to commit to writing four blog entries.  It’s usually good to keep momentum going with blog entries so ideally your blog entry should appear at least every three weeks.    Each blog entry should be a maximum of 1150 words and you also need to provide an author profile.  See our blogs section for an example of an author profile.
